Adam is a gentle, red fawn, newly released prison dog. Even though his obedience training was cut short, he mastered all his commands. He is a happy fellow, who will wag his tail to let you know he is so happy to see you. The telltale scars and crooked tail from his past are overshadowed by his beautiful face, complete with black "eyeliner" completely encircling his eyes. He walks well on a leash- curious about a lot of things but responds to a gentle tug. He loves to go for rides in the car, and is a master at emptying the toy basket. At 69#, what Adam lacks in size he more than makes up for in personality. He is very curious about his new surroundings and wants to follow you wherever you go. He is the happiest foster we have ever had. Adam will do best in a home with another dog.
American Greyhound has partnered with "2nd Chance at Life", a prison foster program for retired racing greyhounds.
2nd Chance at Life (SCAL) places retired racers, directly off the track, into their prison foster program for obedience training and socialization. They receive ten weeks of training from two inmate caretakers and leave as good canine citizens.
The Adoption Fee for a 2nd Chance at Life dog is $300 which helps support this program
