American Greyhound has partnered with "2nd Chance at Life", a prison foster program for retired racing greyhounds.
2nd Chance at Life (SCAL) places retired racers, directly off the track, into their prison foster program for obedience training and socialization. They receive ten weeks of training from two inmate caretakers and leave as good canine citizens.
The Adoption Fee for a 2nd Chance at Life dog is $300 which helps support this program

Captain is a very tiny male and cute as a button. He is a a lover and a cuddler that can't get enough. He is playful and will amuse himself in the backyard with a tennis ball. When he is done he will sit on his own in front of the backdoor to be let in. He also will sit when it's feeding time without being told. He has manners, that's for sure and he knows how to get what he wants. Needless to say he will perform all his commands he learned in prison without a problem. He crates very well and is a quiet fellow. At the beginning of a walk he tends to pull a little until the excitement wears off and then he settles right into a nice pace right by your side. Overall Captain is a great dog and would be even good for a 1st time pet owner.
