Kennel Name: Chelsie
Registered Name: KA Chelsie
female
DOB: 6/2/09
not likely cat/small animal tolerant
AG # 1647

Chelsie is proof that you are only as old as you feel! She is almost 7 years old, but still a puppy at heart. Chelsie gets along well with her foster canine siblings which include a Shih Tzu as well as a Doberman. She would be happiest in a home without cats. One of Chelsie’s favorite things to do is play tug of war.  Her foster mom even commented how difficult she is to photograph because she’s always on the move and ready to go! Kennel Name: Toby
Registered Name: DKC Toby
male
DOB: 03/20/2012
not likely cat/small animal tolerant
AG # 1646

Hello everyone! My name is Toby. I am almost 4 years old, and just came off the track a few weeks ago. I have adjusted very well to retirement though and my foster mom is so proud of me! I haven’t had an accident in the house since I first came, but hey, I had no idea what a house or “potty areas” were. Life as a racer and a retiree are completely different. Retired life is great though! I get a nice soft bed, a comfy crate, yummy food and something my foster mom calls treats! Those are the best!! I crate very quietly and would do ok in an apartment or condo. I would also do best in a home without cats or small dogs, as I show too much interest in them. I love people and always have a wagging tail wherever I am! I am chill in the house most the time, but like any greyhound, can get a burst of energy and play with some of my favorite toys! I haven’t quite adjusted to “winter” as they call it up here in Indiana, but as the temps get warmer and the snow is now gone, I’m doing much better. If you are interested in me or have additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our adoption coordinators!!

Krispy – 1733 Adoption Pending

Kennel Name:Krispy
Registered Name: PTL Krispy
female
DOB: 7/22/07
not likely cat/small animal tolerant
AG # 1733

Krispy is proof that you can’t judge a book by its cover! She loves toys – anything squeaky, fuzzy, or bouncy. She even chases toys in the yard with her younger foster brothers. She is  a toy “hoarder” and even carries them around the house with her. This girl is CRAZY for toys! She doesn’t have any problems navigating stairs and she crates well. She is a kisser and loves accepting hugs. She gets along well with her foster brothers, but if they take their eyes off one of their toys, she doesn’t miss an opportunity to steal it! If this spunky senior gal sounds like the hound for you, contact our adoption coordinators!

Hopper – 1748 Adoption Pending

Kennel Name: Hopper
Registered Name: Hopper
female
DOB: 06/2014
likely cat/small animal tolerant
AG # 1748

Hopper arrived in IL along with 16 other lucky Greys via a long road trip from a greyhound farm in Arkansas. She was a bit shy right off the bat and is a more reserved and shy Grey as far as her personality. She would likely appreciate and blossom most in a relatively laid back and quiet household. She would be happiest in a home with school aged children or older. She is a puppy at heart and very playful. She has helped her foster mom become more familiar with greyhound terminology like “nitting”, where she basically lovingly nibbles on her loved ones. She loves to slyly collect shoes, socks, mail and other items in her sleeping area in the living room. She is adorable as she trots down the hallway the bedroom to her spot in the living room carrying a shoe or dragging (and sometimes tripping on) a blanket delicately clenched in her petite mouth (with a cute overbite!). She enjoys zoomies in the yard as well as appropriate chew toys like rubber bones, natural bones, hoofs, and Nylabones. She is also realizing that treats are very yummy! She really seems to appreciate her fellow Greyhound buddies. If you have been wanting to add a younger Grey to your family and experience some Greyhound puppiness, please contact us regarding your interest in Hopper. She is fostered in the Champaign Urbana area. Additional pictures (and photo albums too) can be viewed on the Facebook page Greyt Times In CU at https://www.facebook.com/greyttimesinCU/?ref=aymt_homepage_panel Thanks for taking a moment to read about Hopper!

Registered Name: Etheral Dignity
female
DOB: 7/9/10
cat/small animal tolerance TBA
AG # 1806

Jean has blossomed in retirement! She is a sweet girl who loves to meet new people and dogs! Jeanie has made so much progress in just a few weeks, her foster parents are very proud! She has mastered the stairs, crates easily, and loves to go for a walk. She goes potty and walks well on a leash, but can get a little distracted if new friends walk by. She is still learning to play. Jeanie likes toys that squeak, and is intrigued by the ball. She is still very interested in the dog that lives in the bathroom mirror – so her foster parents have given up cleaning the mirror for a bit! Jean loves to have her head and ears scratched, and will put her head In your lap and let you pet her for a long time. She loves comfy beds, and has no problem squeezing into whatever space her foster brother has left her! Jeanie is a sweet and friendly girl, all she needs now is her forever home!

female
DOB: 7/16/09
not likely cat/small animal tolerant
AG # 1746

Hi! I’m Serena.  I’ll be 7 years old in July but that doesn’t stop me from playing like a puppy. I have great house manners and I am a good girl in my crate. My foster mom says I love to be by her side. I LOVE being with my foster family and giving them kisses too. I know how to relax and enjoy my retirement, but if I hear a squeaky toy I am ready to play!

Lucy – 1735

Kennel Name: Lucy
Registered Name: Lockdown Lucy
female
DOB: 12/15/07
likely cat/small animal tolerant
AG # 1735

Lucy is so full of spunk you would never know she’s 8 years old! Her favorite retirement past time is digging in the toy bin and playing with stuffies and squeaky toys. She has a coat so soft you won’t want to stop petting her, and she loves to be scratched and pet. Lucy is sweet and enjoys kisses and snuggles from her foster humans. She crates easily and quietly and is a quick learner. She is small animal tolerant and likely cat safe too.

Bolt – 1727

Bolt – 1727

Kennel Name: Bolt
Registered Name: Tah Toggle Bolt
female
DOB: 3/14/13
not likely cat tolerant / small dog OK
AG # 1727

Toggle Bolt is almost three years old and wants nothing more than to fasten her heart to yours! Recently retired from Alabama, Bolt has quickly adapted to retired life with a personality as big and warm as the sun. Bolt shines as she romps around the yard or plays with one of her favorite toys inside the house. Bolt is very independent but also enjoys a good snuggle session or a nice, long nap in her slumberball! Bolt has never met a stranger—either human or canine–and enthusiastically greets everyone she meets with a kiss. Bolt crates like a champ, has conquered slick surfaces like a pro and walks on her leash with an air of grace. Bolt would do best in a home without small children as she “nits” or lightly nibbles when she is excited which could easily be mistaken for a bite in the wrong situation. If Bolt sounds like the hound for you, contact one of our Adoption Coordinators today!

Big Bird – 1808 Adoption Pending

Big Bird – 1808 Adoption Pending

Kennel Name: Big Bird
Registered Name:Flying Berdych
male
DOB: 3/3/09
not likely cat tolerant / small dog workable
AG # 1808

Bird came to AG from and Arkansas breeding farm where after his racing career was over, he started a new career as stud. It was 60 degrees in Arkansas when Bird left and negative 3 when he arrived in Indiana, so he has learned to make many adjustments; including tackling stairs and slippery floors. Bird meets each challenge head on and figures things out, with a little patient help from his people. Bird weighed in at a whopping 100.5 lbs at his neuter appointment and really drew attention everywhere he has gone so far, including the local Petco store. Bird is truly a gentle giant and is just as sweet and lovable as they come, tho he does not care for people getting up in his face, he will pull away. Bird gets our house going in a funny Roo-fest with every siren he hears, so probably best he doesn’t go to a city apartment. Bird may be one of the few greys that have graced my home that hates cheese; he walks away every time. He loves to be with his people and follows us from room to room. So if you are looking to add a Bird rug to every room you are in, this may be your boy. His foster family can answer any specific questions you may have on this Big Bird.

Candy – 1725 Adoption Pending

Kennel Name: Candy
Registered Name: CET Candy Parker
female
DOB: 8/24/12
likely cat/small animal tolerant
AG # 1725

Candy is a sweet and loving girl who always seeks attention from the people she meets. In fact, she prefers the company of people over that of the other hounds. She’s still working on getting the hang of walking on leash, and is working on mastering her verbal commands and hand signals. Food is one of her favorite things. She will do anything for a treat! Candy recently had her first experience with snow. She loved it! She ran circles around the pen romping and trying to get everyone to play with her. Candy graduates from the TGIE program on February 11.
