Arlo – 1824

Arlo – 1824

Kennel Name: Arlo
male
DOB: approx.  8/28/14
likely cat/small animal tolerant
AG # 1824

Hello, my name is Arlo. My foster mom named me after The Good Dinosaur because my personality is a lot like the small dinosaur in the movie. I’m smaller in size than other Greyhounds, but I don’t let that stop me. They say I’m about 1.5 years young! I’m a very happy boy that loves to wiggle all over. I am great with kids of all ages but would enjoy not being picked on by toddlers. I love to lay or stand for a massage or two. You could pet me all day. I love to watch my feline friend roll around and play, I even get to play sometimes when my foster mom is with me. I have gotten along with every dog I have met big or small. My favorite past time is napping or playing with my fur bunny toy! I whine for a minute when put away in my crate, but when I realize there’s a bed I fall fast asleep. I used to gather shoes and clothing to make a pile in the living room. I’ve improved on not doing this because I have my own stuffed toy to play with. My mom also says I’m doing better on housebreaking now that I get to go for walks 3 times a day. I let my foster mom know I have to go outside by tapping the door handle with my nose. I cannot wait to have a family of my own! Contact one of the adoption coordinators if you’d like to meet me.

Gemini – 1825

Kennel Name: Gemini
female
DOB: approx. 2/28/13
cat/small animal tolerance TBA
AG # 1825

Gemini was taken in by American Greyhound late February after being rescued by an all breed rescue in Mishawaka, IN. They rescued her from a shelter in Pennsylvania. This East-Coast “Gem” is such a good girl! She is a greyhound mix weighing in at a whopping 48lbs. She is approximately 3 years old, in great health, and has a fun, spunky personality. She loves to snuggle with her foster family and she loves playing with the other greyhounds in the home. She crates quietly, so an apartment or condo would suit her well. If Gemini sounds like the girl for you, contact our adoption coordinators!

Stanley is a very handsome boy that is just loving retirement.  He is a mischievous boy that is friendly and outgoing. He is still getting the hang of how to really enjoy being retired and what it means to have good house manners. He was shocked to learn that counter surfing isn’t allowed! He loves to play outside and he gets along well with his greyhound foster siblings.  He even does the infamous greyhound “cockroach”.  If you’d like to learn more about Stanley, contact our adoption coordinators!

Kennel Name: Toby
Registered Name: DKC Toby
male
DOB: 03/20/2012
not likely cat/small animal tolerant
AG # 1646

Hello everyone! My name is Toby. I am almost 4 years old, and just came off the track a few weeks ago. I have adjusted very well to retirement though and my foster mom is so proud of me! I haven’t had an accident in the house since I first came, but hey, I had no idea what a house or “potty areas” were. Life as a racer and a retiree are completely different. Retired life is great though! I get a nice soft bed, a comfy crate, yummy food and something my foster mom calls treats! Those are the best!! I crate very quietly and would do ok in an apartment or condo. I would also do best in a home without cats or small dogs, as I show too much interest in them. I love people and always have a wagging tail wherever I am! I am chill in the house most the time, but like any greyhound, can get a burst of energy and play with some of my favorite toys! I haven’t quite adjusted to “winter” as they call it up here in Indiana, but as the temps get warmer and the snow is now gone, I’m doing much better. If you are interested in me or have additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our adoption coordinators!!

DOB: 7/22/07
not likely cat/small animal tolerant

Krispy is proof that you can’t judge a book by its cover! She loves toys – anything squeaky, fuzzy, or bouncy. She even chases toys in the yard with her younger foster brothers. She is  a toy “hoarder” and even carries them around the house with her. This girl is CRAZY for toys! She doesn’t have any problems navigating stairs and she crates well. She is a kisser and loves accepting hugs. She gets along well with her foster brothers, but if they take their eyes off one of their toys, she doesn’t miss an opportunity to steal it! If this spunky senior gal sounds like the hound for you, contact our adoption coordinators!

Hopper – 1748 Adoption Pending

Kennel Name: Hopper
Registered Name: Hopper
female
DOB: 06/2014
likely cat/small animal tolerant
AG # 1748

Hopper arrived in IL along with 16 other lucky Greys via a long road trip from a greyhound farm in Arkansas. She was a bit shy right off the bat and is a more reserved and shy Grey as far as her personality. She would likely appreciate and blossom most in a relatively laid back and quiet household. She would be happiest in a home with school aged children or older. She is a puppy at heart and very playful. She has helped her foster mom become more familiar with greyhound terminology like “nitting”, where she basically lovingly nibbles on her loved ones. She loves to slyly collect shoes, socks, mail and other items in her sleeping area in the living room. She is adorable as she trots down the hallway the bedroom to her spot in the living room carrying a shoe or dragging (and sometimes tripping on) a blanket delicately clenched in her petite mouth (with a cute overbite!). She enjoys zoomies in the yard as well as appropriate chew toys like rubber bones, natural bones, hoofs, and Nylabones. She is also realizing that treats are very yummy! She really seems to appreciate her fellow Greyhound buddies. If you have been wanting to add a younger Grey to your family and experience some Greyhound puppiness, please contact us regarding your interest in Hopper. She is fostered in the Champaign Urbana area. Additional pictures (and photo albums too) can be viewed on the Facebook page Greyt Times In CU at https://www.facebook.com/greyttimesinCU/?ref=aymt_homepage_panel Thanks for taking a moment to read about Hopper!
