Devo is a gentle giant. He is very soft natured and a little on the shy side. He responds best to his
commands in training if they are given with a normal voice rather then a loud one. He does not like loud
noises and the Walkie Talkies of the prison guards going off scare him a bit. He is a very friendly, smart
dog, but not the most outgoing. On the other hand, he loves to play with the other greys and shows no
hesitation in interacting with them. He listens very well if you call him by his name. His trainer says if you
are patient with him he will gain your trust and be very affectionate. Will you be the one to show him, it is
okay to trust and share his love?

American Greyhound has partnered with "2nd Chance at Life", a prison foster program for retired racing greyhounds.
2nd Chance at Life (SCAL) places retired racers, directly off the track, into their prison foster program for obedience
training and socialization.  They receive ten weeks of training from two inmate caretakers and leave as good canine
citizens.
SCAL greys require a $300 adoption fee to support the program.
