30 Cards in 30 Days

Posted on September 18, 2011

Last year our 1st annual auction was overwhelmingly successful.  Many factors contributed to this success, including the portion of our auction referred to as the "Bidding Frenzy".

The basis of the "Bidding Frenzy", was our members and supporters donate gift cards andporsche_1247_4.jpg certificates to restaurants, stores, and shops, to us.  During the "Bidding Frenzy", the cards and their value are read off by our auctioneer, and the bidder who he sees raise his or her bid card first wins the bidding for that gift card or certificate at face value of the card.  It's a win-win for American Greyhound, our donors, our auction attendees, and most important, for the racing greyhounds we serve.  American Greyhound receives the cards as donations, our donors are able to make a tax deductible donation, our auction attendees win gift cards at exactly their cost, and of course, those racing greyhounds receive a new lease on life with American greyhound!  If that isn't win-win, I don't know what is.

What are we looking for?  The most appealing cards for donation would be those from stores, restaurants, etc, which have locations all over the Northwest Indiana/South Bend-Goshen/South Chicago region (they would hold appeal to a greater number of bidders).  But, local businesses are equally appreciated, and we always love to have a few of those mixed in.  Again, use your imagination.  Any gift cards you have but don't foresee using would be put to good use in our "Bidding Frenzy".

We really want to improve upon last years already successful auction.  And part of that improvement includes improving upon our successful "Bidding Frenzy".  And here's where we need your help.  We want to collect donations of at least 30 cards or certificates in the next 30 days.  Any value, any store or restaurant.

If you have any questions about the "Bidding Frenzy", the donation of gift cards or certificates, or any other questions about the auction, please give me a call at (219)771-0892, or drop me an Jeff Coggins. Your help will make all the difference in the world to some deserving racing greyhound still sitting at a race track somewhere.
